OTHER FUN STUFF
Sometimes creativity happens just for the sake of it. Here’s some fun personal projects I’ve done.
3D ILLUSTRATIONS
An ongoing series of creating 3D versions of my own 2D illustrations. I use Blender for the 3D, including adding hand-drawn elements with Grease Pencil, and compile the finished animations with After Effects.
01 - Sprite
Illustration from a challenge based on a random sprite generator. The character model from this animation was later used in my Slice of Life: Moonscream Manor short.
02 - Flower Head Statue
03 - Florasona
Illustration from a challenge to draw a “florasona” (flora-based persona OC).
MOSAIC CROCHET ANIMATION
This looping animation consists of eight individual squares of mosaic crochet, scanned and compiled into a single video. Each of the eight squares were designed by me (using Google Sheets to create the pattern) and meant to represent an eye opening and closing.
Tests of the pattern grids are below.
SAUTÉ
This looping animation was created for the Wipster Gif Contest in 2019. The animation was created using a combination of Blender and After Effects. For more information, visit the Sauté Behance project.
CLIMBER
Mixed media is an interest of mine. I love the idea of taking environments from the real world and bringing in unique creatures. I found this wall of rocks on a walk one day and I was inspired to throw in a climbing creature - with a twist, of course.
DO BROOKEDROIDS DREAM OF ELECTRIC HORSES?
This animation was created during a livestream. Absurdity is another interest of mine - I found this horse image on Unsplash and thought, I’m going to animate “my horse dream.” How could I visualize the concept of dreaming about a horse? Of course, I wanted to give it a kind of futuristic vibe. The title of the animation is a reference to, “Do Androids Dream of Electric Sheep?” by Philip K. Dick.
IN THE ATMOSPHERE
In the Atmosphere was created for the Motion Tokyo Contest in 2019. The animation was created using a combination of Blender and After Effects. For more information, visit the In the Atmosphere Behance project.
